The Hamburg Piazetta was organized by the women artists’ group “Frauen und Technik” (Women and Technology), which was founded at the University of Fine Arts, where Mike Hentz was professor at the time. It was one of the most active piazettas, and sometimes was on air several times a day, broadcasting from the Ponton media lab in Hamburg. In their contributions, they combined methods from feminist and performance art with an examination of the medium of television. Among the regular program items were the „Penisneidspiele“ (penis envy games), a parody of a game show, but also activities that evoce art performances, for instance when group member Cornelia Sollfrank showed only a close-up her mouth or herself in backlight during meditation for long periods of time.
