The Bremen “Piazza Telematica” was organized by students of the Art Academy in Bremen. The broadcasts were mostly sent from the video studio of the Academy and transmitted to Kassel via an ISDN videophone. The influence of performance, experimental film and video art on the Bremen art students is clearly visible in most of their productions. These were characterized by a visual language reminiscent of the video art of the 80s and 90s and is characterized by the garish color palette of the Amiga computers of the time. The intensive use of video mixers, color effects and image overlays resulted in some amazing image compositions. Live broadcasts were transmitted from a cafe, from Bremen’s pedestrian zone and from the Saturn market, among other places. In addition, there were links to the Piazzetta in Riga, Bremen’s twin city, and to the Piazzetta Cologne.
