DFG Project
The German Research Foundation project number 388224396 “Van Gogh TV. Erschließung, Multimedia-Dokumentation und Analyse ihres Nachlasses” deals with the project “Piazza virtuale” by Van Gogh TV.
The three-year research project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and started on 01.04.2018. The total funding amount is €636,000. The project was applied for by Prof. Anja Stöffler (Institute for Media Design, University of Applied Sciences Mainz ) and Prof. Dr. Jens Schröter (Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn). Prof. Dr. Tilman Baumgärtel (Institute for Media Design, University of Applied Sciences Mainz) is the project leader.
The research project sees itself as a paradigmatic attempt to historically process early online projects and communities and to secure them in the long term. There has been little research on the preservation and historisation of these highly fragile digital artefacts and media cultural relics. In addition to media studies publications and lectures, the project will also produce a medium-length documentary film and an art exhibition.
