For “Hotel Pompino”, Van Gogh TV developed a virtual studio, possibly the first in Europe. The actors stood up in front of a blue screen. Several Commodore Amiga computers were used to generate the virtual backgrounds showing the various rooms of the imaginary hotel, the actors were “chromakeyed” into this digital backdrop. This technique was not used in “Piazza virtuale”.
