The Piazzetta Earth was a live broadcast of the space shuttle Atlantis‘ external camera. During most of the broadcasting time, the Piazzetta Göttingen took part in the program via video telephone in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. The program anticipated the concept of the “Space Night” by Bavarian public broadcasting. Since June 1994, recordings of the external cameras of space shuttles and science satellites are shown during the night program of the TV stations ARD-alpha and BR.
