Broadcast via satellite
The uplink to the Olmypus satellite was sponsored by German Telekom
In addition to the daily broadcast on the public service channel 3Sat, Van Gogh TV did another show every night from 9 p.m. to midnight that was broadcast via the Olympus television and communications satellite. Olympus was an experimental television and communications satellite of the European Space Agency (ESA) that was developed to test new applications such as teleconferencing, high-definition television and data transmission. The satellite use of Van Gogh TV was sponsored by ESA; Telekom provided Van Gogh TV with a 6-metre satellite dish as an uplink.
